The Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District Drug and Alcohol Service offers free, non-judgemental services and treatments for drug and/or alcohol use, including information and support for families. Our service offers specialist drug and alcohol doctors, nurses and allied health staff who respect the client's right to choose from a range of treatments offered with our services underpinned by a philosophy of harm reduction.
The new LifeSpan clinics are a new service designed to address the impact of substance misuse and dependency through the lens of chronicity.
This position promotes an integral person centred care model which advocates for effective and efficient care focusing on the unique physical, mental and social needs of the individual and fosters a collaborative partnership between clients/carers, service providers and their community providers who are at risk of deteriorating health that may result in declining quality in life and an acute hospital presentation and/or admission.
This position delivers clinical leadership and education, participates in research and clinical services planning in line with the criteria for Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 2 as per the NSW Public Health System Nurses and Midwives (State) Award. What you will bring to the role
- Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse/Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and current Driver’s License and willingness to use for work purpose travel.
- Minimum five years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least three years full time equivalent experience in Drug and Alcohol and post graduate qualifications in Drug and Alcohol or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate.
- Evidence of consistent demonstration of behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation with all stakeholders including colleagues, direct reports patients and clients.
- Demonstrated clinical leadership skills and an ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in nursing/midwifery practice.
- Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills across a variety of mediums and an understanding of the practice development framework to clinical practice.
- Demonstrated involvement in the development/change of clinical practice underpinned by evidence-based research.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to strategic and clinical service planning.
- Ability to apply clinical expertise in patient-centred consultancy with the ability to work effectively both as a member of a multidisciplinary team and independently.
