Nepean Hospital, located at Kingswood is seeking a Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) Grade 2 to lead and support best practices in the clinical use of blood and blood products across our facility.
This is an exciting Temporary Part time opportunity to contribute to patient safety, quality improvement, and clinical education in a specialised and critical area of healthcare. This role will see you provide expert clinical consultancy on the appropriate and safe use of blood and blood products and lead the development, implementation and evaluation of evidence-based policies and protocols related to transfusion practice. You will deliver staff education and training on blood product administration and monitor, analyse and report on transfusion-related incidents and key performance indicators that will contribute to quality improvement initiatives and audits in transfusion safety.

What you will bring to the role:
- Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. Minimum five years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least three years full time equivalent Acute Care experience and post graduate qualifications in a related specialty field or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate.
- Knowledge of VTE prevention strategies, transfusion safety issues and current Australian transfusion standards and guidelines.
- Demonstrated clinical leadership skills and an ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in nursing/midwifery practice.
- Demonstrated experience in the development, implementation, review and redevelopment of policy, procedures and education programmes.
- Demonstrated involvement in the development/change of clinical practice underpinned by evidence-based research.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to strategic and clinical service planning.
