Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the above position in the Western Sydney Local Health District. The position will be located at Westmead and Blacktown Hospitals within the Department of Radiation Oncology.
Successful applicants will build relationships of trust with patients and their families through compassion and respect for their dignity and cultural and religious beliefs, have effective interpersonal skills that bring out the best in colleagues, work well in multidisciplinary teams and demonstrate an ability to keep up to date with emerging radiation trends.
Radiation treatment in Western Sydney LHD is provided at both Westmead and Blacktown Hospitals. Around 2,000 courses of radiation treatment are delivered each year across the two hospitals with Varian TrueBeams using Eclipse as the planning system and ARIA as the cancer record. The full spectrum of radiation treatment options is offered including orthovoltage, brachytherapy, total body irradiation, stereotactic body and brain as well as motion-management techniques and the care of paediatric patients. Excellent patient care and teamwork are at the core of everything we do. The department has a strong track record of teaching and training in radiation oncology. We have a strengthening reputation in research especially in the field of radiation biology.
This appointment will be for a period 3 February 2025 to 9 May 2025
Appointees may be eligible for credentialing and privileging across all other facilities in the Western Sydney Local Health District.
Selection Criteria
· Possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award. Must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Australian Residency.
· Sound knowledge and experience in the radiation oncology management of Genitourinary (GU) cancers demonstrated through successful recent clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position.
· Ability to provide equal share in the on-call roster across the Radiation Oncology Network.
· Qualifications and credentials required for core scope of practice in the specialty.
· Sound clinical knowledge in Radiation Oncology demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position.
· Evidence of additional qualifications, skills and/or experience required for specific scope of practice for the specialty.
· Demonstrated skills and attributes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical /Dental Practitioner including:
o Proven ability to work effectively and harmoniously with medical and other health services colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team.
o Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues.
o Excellent organisational, supervision and collaboration skills with demonstrated ability to build respectful relationships.
o Maintaining and developing knowledge, skills and professional performance to the level required for contemporary practice.
o Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities and translation of research into practice to improve patient safety and quality.
· Demonstrated ability to manage time and resources efficiently and contributing to the effectiveness and efficiency of the health care system.
· Demonstrated aptitude for clinical leadership which is evidenced by:
o Systems thinking and risk-taking aptitude.
o commitment to self -care and personal development.
o Capacity to maintain personal integrity, tolerate stress and demonstrate resilience.
