About the Role
The successful applicant(s) will join an enthusiastic team of health professionals providing excellent clinical services in Neonatology. The role will provide an interesting range of clinical, teaching and research opportunities. The successful applicant will participate In the on-call roster pro rata to the FTE.
Purpose of the Position
Participate in high risk pregnancy consultation.
Contribute to the education of undergraduate and postgraduate staff.
Undertake supervision of junior medical staff including those activities required for meeting their training requirements
Contribute to and support research and quality activities into neonatal care.
This care will be provided within the scope of practice endorsed by the NSLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee (MDAAC).
Selection Criteria
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Recognised specialist qualification and Fellowship of The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP), Paediatrics and Child Health Division, Neonatal Perinatal specialist recognition or recognition as a specialist by the Medical Board of Australia.

- Appropriate experience to practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner in Neonatology, preferably with experience as consultant neonatologist in a level 5 or 6 neonatal intensive care unit
- Evidence of either certification or level expertise to independently perform clinician performed ultrasound of heart and brain in neonates
- Demonstrated experience in neonatal neuro-developmental follow up.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and conduct research projects and/or clinical projects that seek to implement new techniques or improved approaches to management based on current available evidence.
- Evidence of and commitment to lead and work within a multidisciplinary team environment as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Evidence of and commitment to teaching and continuing education.
