Nepean Hospital is a teaching hospital that provides tertiary referral services in emergency care, coronary care, diagnostics, gynaecology, paediatric, neonatal intensive care/ICU, maternity, mental health, rehabilitation, and surgery. A Supervisor in General Services is responsible for providing support, direction, coaching, mentoring, staff performance development, staff appraisals and supervision for all General Services staff. This includes the maintenance of a hygienic and safe environment for patients, staff, and the public who frequent the hospital and its outlying buildings. The position will be required to work shift work, after hours and weekends.

What you will bring to the role:
- Demonstrated experience in cleaning, linen and waste services within a hospital environment. Previous Supervisory experience leading a Team within a Health Care Environment.
- Demonstrated good communication skills in English and the ability to read and understand essential documentation including safe work practices, infection control procedure and policy and procedures. Ability to positively communicate with co workers.
- Demonstrated knowledge of EEO, WH&S, and cleaning objectives/work plans. Demonstrated understand and interpretation of essential documentation including safe work practices (SWP’s) and infection control procedures, material safety data sheets (MSD's) and written instructions.
- Demonstrated ability to show initiative, use sound judgement and work collaboratively as part of a team as well as independently. Ability to prioritise tasks whilst under sustained pressure, maintain accuracy and attention to detail whilst managing a high workload.
- Use of computers and variety of software application including Microsoft Office programs and databases. Ability to learn new programs readily.
- Demonstrated experience and ability to provide training and assist in manual handling objectives.
- Availability and capacity to participate in a 24 hour/ seven-day rotating roster which includes working all shifts, all days of the week including public holidays, able to work reasonable overtime as required.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including relevant clinical standards e.g. infection control, Australian Standards and policies of NSW Health and NBMLHD for all functions provided by General Services.
