Nepean Hospital is a teaching hospital that provides tertiary referral services in emergency care, coronary care, diagnostics, gynaecology, paediatric, neonatal intensive care/ICU, maternity, mental health, rehabilitation, and surgery. The Nepean Campus has recently experienced tremendous growth and aims to support communities within and outside of Sydney’s western suburbs, providing world-class clinical facilities, services, and care.

 

An excellent opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse to join the team in the Discharge Lounge at Nepean Hospital working in a Permanent Part time position.

Working in the Discharge Lounge will allow you to meet the needs of staff, patients and their families whilst working in a diverse team demonstrating CORE values whilst providing exceptional person-centered care.

With this role you will
ensure optimal outcomes for patients/clients and carers of the service through the promotion of best practice including the appropriate escalation of care & facilitate patient discharges via the discharge lounge in a safe & effective manner and will work with a high level of autonomy regarding the decision making process in relation to the patients care and facilitating their discharge from the Hospital. At all times you will work collaboratively utilising effective communication with members of the multidisciplinary health team in the process of providing the patient/carer with discharge instructions and paperwork.

What you will bring to the role:

  1. Current registration as Registered Nurse Division 1 with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  2. Demonstrated experience and clinical skill in general nursing
  3. Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise work
  4. Demonstrated evidence of being able to provide person centred care
  5. Demonstrated effective communication skills – written and verbal.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to professional development
  7. Demonstrated experience and clinical skill in general Nursing as a Registered Nurse (including completion of a new graduate RN program or equivalent 12mths experience working as a Registered Nurse).
  8. Ability to work a set roster Monday to Friday hours ranging from 0730 until 2000hrs.
