Nepean Hospital is a teaching hospital that provides tertiary referral services in emergency care, coronary care, diagnostics, gynaecology, paediatric, neonatal intensive care/ICU, maternity, mental health, rehabilitation, and surgery. The Nepean Campus has recently experienced tremendous growth and aims to support communities within and outside of Sydney’s western suburbs, providing world-class clinical facilities, services, and care.
The successful incumbent will be responsible for registration and admission of patients as well as patient support and flow through Short Stay, Acute and Sub-Acute sections. Clerks are responsible for the immediate registration of all presentations and ambulance patients.
The Emergency Department at Nepean Hospital is currently seeking to fill two permanent full time and one permanent part time Emergency Clerk positions. The successful incumbents will be required to work a 24/7 rotating roster where there will be a mix of morning, day, afternoon, and night shifts, covering all workstations within the Emergency Department.

What you will bring to the role
- Experience in a frontline customer service role and the ability to effectively use problem solving and negotiation skills
- Demonstrated good written and verbal communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and in a multi-disciplinary team environment
- Demonstrated computer literacy including proficient keyboard and data entry skills
- Willingness and ability to work a 24 hour rotating roster with flexibility and able to work additional shifts as requested
- Ability to work under pressure in a busy and demanding environment
- Ability to organise and set work priorities to meet department benchmarks and KPIs
- Understanding of and commitment to maintaining confidentiality
