About the role:
This is a temporary full-time position within our department working as a Level 1/2 Occupational Therapist within the Hand Therapy team. The Hand Therapy team is multidisciplinary and consists of both Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapists working cohesively within the service. This position will be responsible for a clinical caseload consisting of treating patients in both an inpatient and outpatient setting as well as working with the surgical team in a clinic setting. The caseload is primarily trauma with a small component of treatment of chronic conditions.
We are seeking a motivated Occupational Therapist who has a strong interest in hand therapy and with some prior clinical experience. You will be supported by a senior Occupational Therapist working in hand therapy. There is a strong focus on providing evidence-based practice and professional development within the team and you will have opportunities to participate in a both internal and external education.

Essential Criteria:
- Qualification: Degree or Diploma recognised by AAOT-NSW
- Registration: AHPRA registration as an Occupational Therapist
Selection Criteria:
- Previous post graduate experience, in hand therapy or other relevant clinical area
- Demonstrated a strong interest in treating hand injuries and conditions, including some post graduate experience in splinting
- Skills in planning, implementing and evaluating intervention programmes
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated effective time management and organisational skills
- Current valid Australian driver’s licence
- Commitment to ongoing education/professional development, quality improvement and research, with an interest to be become an associate member of the Australian Hand Therapy Association (AHTA) and work towards becoming an Accredited Hand Therapist (AHT)
