What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of the Carer Support Officer role is to implement and lead the Carer Support components of the SCHN Clinical Governance Framework, as informed by the NSW Carers (Recognition) Act 2010, the NSW Health Recognition and Support for Carers Key Directions, the SCHN Strategic Plan, the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards, and any other relevant NSW Health materials with the support of the SCHN Consumer Experience Manager. 

Please note that throughout the recruitment process you will be assessed with the following: 

  1. Qualifications in (or currently studying for a qualification) within a welfare/healthcare discipline or equivalent work-related experience
  2. Demonstrated ability in working in partnership with carers
  3. Demonstrated ability to build staff capacity to support carers
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills including facilitating groups and workshops
  5. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with staff and families and liaise with relevant stakeholders across services
  6. Excellent project management skills, including the management of multiple projects and deadlines
  7. Demonstrate qualities such as integrity, warmth, humility, friendliness, and enthusiasm.
  8. Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team
