Sydney Children's Hospitals Network is the largest paediatric health care entity in Australia. We care for thousands of children each year in our hospitals and in their homes — with one purpose in mind — to help young people live their healthiest lives. 


There is an opportunity available to fill vacancies of both permanent and temporary hours. Currently a total of 18 hours per week are vacant (10 hours permanent and 8 hours temporary up to 2 November 2025) however we are open to accepting applications for permanent and temporary roles up to full time hours should they become available in the future.

What you'll be doing
The Nutrition and Dietetic Department aims to work in partnership to advocate for optimised nutrition for children through evidence based clinical care, education, research and leadership. We specialise in addressing the unique nutritional needs of children from neonates to adolescents, across a range of clinical domains. Our primary aim is to optimise the growth and nutritional status of all children with chronic and complex medical conditions.
The purpose of the dietary assistant position is to provide services to inpatients every day, including weekends and public holidays.
  1. Completion of Allied Health Assistance (Nutrition and Dietetic Assistance) Certificate III or IV or equivalent or food science/nutrition undergraduate qualification or willingness to undertake.
  2. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels with internal and external stakeholders.
  3. Demonstrated organisational skills including ability to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines and complete activities as delegated by the department manager and / or the supervising dietitian.
  4. Ability to work on a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays
  5. Experience working with children and their families
  6. Demonstrated computer literacy skills and knowledge of CBORD, Microsoft Office and email applications
