Nepean Hospital is a teaching hospital that provides tertiary referral services in emergency care, coronary care, diagnostics, gynaecology, paediatric, neonatal intensive care/ICU, maternity, mental health, rehabilitation, and surgery. The Clinical Psychologist for Supportive and Palliative Care is responsible for providing high quality, patient-centred, evidence-based psychological assessment, diagnosis, intervention and consultation to improve the quality of life of patients and families/carers engaged within the service. The role will provide psychosocial services for people living with a life limiting illness and will include inpatient, outpatient, community and occasional consultation-liaison work.
The incumbent will work as part of the multidisciplinary Supportive and Palliative Care service across the District and will also be involved in the development and provision of education and training programs and quality improvement and research. What you will bring to the role:
- Full registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with full endorsement in the area of Clinical Psychology or working towards endorsement.
- Accredited Clinical Doctorate/Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology
- Knowledge in a wide range of psychological assessment procedures and specific training and experience in cognitive-behavioural and other evidence based psychological treatments delivered on an individual or group basis.
- Comprehensive contemporary knowledge of psychological practice in palliative care and bereavement.
- Demonstrated knowledge of research and the quality improvement process for service development, implementation and evaluation.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to accomplish service goals and improved patient and/or consumer care and outcomes.
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and problem solving skills and computer literacy.
- Unrestricted NSW driver’s licence and willingness to travel across the local health district as required.
