About the Opportunity
A great opportunity exists to join the Liverpool Hospital Speech Pathology Department in the paediatric team. We are looking for a senior speech pathologist with specialist skills in paediatric feeding, that can be applied across the special care nursery, NICU and outpatient feeding services.

The successful applicant will enjoy working in busy and fast paced environments in a supportive team environment.  Liverpool Hospital is a tertiary hospital with many complex presentations. This role also provides services to other sites in the district, and has a lot of opportunity for multidisciplinary team work.

What You'll be Doing
The position is responsible for leading, guiding and managing the delivery of speech pathology services to infants and children with feeding, swallowing and communication difficulties. As a senior clinician the speech pathologist is responsible for overseeing and providing an efficient and effective service through the application of clinical expertise and knowledge in the management of infants and children with complex feeding, swallowing and communication difficulties. This includes in a variety of settings such as the special care nursery, paediatric ward, the multidisciplinary feeding clinic, VFSS clinic and outpatients. The position will also contribute to senior departmental duties including clinical supervision, leading of quality improvement activities, participation in service development and other administrative responsibilities as required.

  1. Must hold a bachelor or post graduate degree in speech pathology which is accredited as eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia
  2. Extensive post graduate clinical experience in paediatrics with demonstrated advanced clinical practice and reasoning skills for the management of feeding, swallowing and communication difficulties in infants and children.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience with instrumental swallowing assessments (VFSS &/or FEES).
  4. Ability to work effectively in a large department, within a multidisciplinary team and independently.
  5. Demonstrated experience supervising staff and/or students.
  6. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
