Temporary Staff Specialist in Intensive Care Medicine - Nepean Hospital -
Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the above position (s) in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District. The position will be primarily located at Nepean Hospital within the Department of Intensive Care.
Successful applicants should be highly motivated and a competent intensive care specialist, registered with AHPRA.
The clinical load will be as per the clinical roster in keeping with 1.0FTE. The roster will be shared appropriately among total of 9 staff specialists within the unit (of varying FTE). On call requirements would be as per roster approximately 1 in 8 on call, as well as a dedicated non-clinical load (eg: administration, teaching, supervision, QA, research). Appointees may be eligible for credentialing and privileging across all other facilities in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.

- Possess registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Possess Fellowship of the College of Intensive Care Medicine (CICM) and/or equivalent specialist recognition as provided for by the Health Insurance Act 1997 and Staff Specialists (State) Award.
- Sound clinical knowledge in Intensive Care Medicine demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including: high level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team; evidence of participation in quality assurance activities relevant to the specialty; and relevant qualifications and/or appropriate post-Fellowship clinical experience.
- Possess (or in process of obtaining) an advanced echocardiography qualification to enable formal transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography performance and reporting.
- Demonstrate a passion for teaching in the areas of Intensive Care Medicine and echocardiography (both basic and advanced).
- Demonstrated considerable commitment to junior medical staff supervision (eg: consistent with contemporary best practice supervision standards) with a view to helping supervise/manage the non-ICU trainees within the department (ie: training, well-being, mentoring, rostering etc…
- Familiarity with quality assurance & improvement concepts as required within the Department.
