Selection Criteria
§ Must possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award. Must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Australian Residency.
§ Must have a high level of obstetrics and gynaecology experience in a large, complex tertiary service, have significant experience in the care of women from many cultures and backgrounds, have excellent clinical judgement and be able to manage multiple complex cases simultaneously in order to practice at a high level of clinical skills have at least laparoscopy Level 3 surgical skills as per RANZCOG definition.
§ Must be supportive of planned vaginal breech birth under selected circumstances
§ Must be prepared to make a meaningful contribution to a positive and harmonious workplace culture, have a demonstrated ability to take on a leadership role and be prepared to contribute to Clinical Governance activities within the O&G service
§ Must be prepared to provide occasional leave relief to other consultants, as required by the Head of Department
§ Must have demonstrated capability to provide safe, high quality O&G care to women of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
§ Must be prepared to participate in both formal and informal supervisory, support and mentorship roles for Junior Medical Officers pursuing a variety of career pathways in reproductive women’s health
§ Must demonstrate familiarity with research concepts and be prepared to be involved in the research output of the department including providing assistance to other staff in their research endeavours and must be prepared to make a contribution to the education of registrars, residents and midwives/ nurses including, on occasion, outside normal working hours
Desirable Criteria
§ Have knowledge and expertise in the management of high risk and complex pregnancies, above the level of the generalist O&G specialist
§ Have obstetric ultrasound skills above the level of the generalist O&G specialist
§ Have a demonstrated commitment to provision of high quality pregnancy care for women with a background of disadvantage and deprivation
