Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the above position(s) in the Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD). This position will be located at Westmead Hospital within the Division of Medicine.
Successful applicants will be primarily responsible for organising and coordinating medical registrars to provide effective, safe, and efficient clinical services at the nominated facility. The Clinical Superintendent will have direct administrative responsibility for medical registrars including the provision of rosters, term allocations and leave.
Applicants expecting to be awarded fellowship within 6 months are eligible to apply.
The position is a fixed term till the end of the 2026 Clinical Year commencing on 2 February 2026, with possibility of renewing for 1 additional year subject to satisfactory performance review.
Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Staff Specialists (State) Award.
Essential Requirements
1. 1. Possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award
2. 2. Must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Australian Residency.
3. 3. Sound clinical knowledge in Medicine demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position
4. 4. Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical /Dental Practitioner including:
o High level interpersonal and communication skills.
o Demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team.
o Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision
o Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities and evidence-based best practice.
5. 5. Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic, applied or clinical research within the Department.
6. 6. Clinical subspecialty duties appropriate to the needs of the Facility
Selection Criteria
1. Possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award.
2. Evidence of additional qualifications, skills and/or experience required for specific scope of practice for the specialty
3. Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including:
· Proven ability to work effectively and harmoniously with medical and other health services colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team.
· Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues.
· Excellent organisational, supervision and collaboration skills with demonstrated ability to build respectful relationships.
· Maintaining and developing knowledge, skills and professional performance to the level required for contemporary practice.
· Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities and translation of research into practice to improve patient safety and quality.
4. Demonstrated ability to manage time and resources efficiently and contributing to the effectiveness and efficiency of the health care system.
5. Demonstrated aptitude for clinical leadership which is evidenced by:
· Systems thinking and risk-taking aptitude.
· commitment to self -care and personal development.
· Capacity to maintain personal integrity, tolerate stress and demonstrate resilience.

7. Demonstrated commitment to Education, Training and Research, as applicable to the position
8. Understanding and experience in clinical rostering, patient flow and human resource management and Experience in FRACP examination coordination
