Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the above position in the Western Sydney Local Health District. The position will be located at Westmead and Blacktown Hospitals within the Department of Radiation Oncology.
Successful applicants will be required to perform duties at Westmead and Blacktown Hospitals and participate in an on-call roster for radiation oncology.
Successful applicants will be responsible for providing a consultative service in radiation oncology, including multidisciplinary clinical assessments, radiotherapy simulation and planning across all cancer sub-specialty sites. An equal share in the on-call roster across the Radiation Oncology Network (RON) is expected. Applicants should have recent experience at consultant level and a willingness to participate in research and education programmes including registrar and undergraduate teaching.
The position will be for a period of 12 Months fixed term.
Appointees may be eligible for credentialing and privileging across all other facilities in the Western Sydney Local Health District
Selection Criteria
· Possess registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialist (State) Award. Must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Australian Residency
· Sound clinical knowledge in radiation oncology demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position.
· Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including:
- High level interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities and evidence-based best practice.
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision.
· Demonstrated active participation in quality assurance activities relevant to radiation oncology
· Demonstrated familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic, applied or clinical research within radiation oncology.
· Demonstrated ability to provide a consultative service in radiation oncology across all tumour sites.
· Demonstrated ability to provide multidisciplinary clinical assessments, radiotherapy simulation and planning.
· Ability to provide equal share in the on-call roster across the RON.
· Demonstrated commitment to providing registrar and undergraduate teaching.
· Availability to cover already rostered leave.
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Staff Specialist (State) Award
