About the Opportunity
The behavioural aged care ward at Bankstown Hospital is currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated registered nurse to join their team.

The ideal candidate should possess a strong willingness to learn and adapt to the unique needs of the patients in the ward. Compassion is a vital trait, as it is essential to provide empathetic care and support to elderly individuals with behavioural challenges.

Good communication skills are crucial for effectively liaising with patients, their families, and the multidisciplinary team, ensuring that everyone is on the same page regarding treatment plans and goals. A friendly demeanour is highly valued to create a warm and welcoming environment for the residents, promoting a sense of comfort and trust.

Patience is also key in dealing with behavioural issues, as it allows for the provision of calm and understanding care even in challenging situations. The behavioural aged care ward is committed to providing the highest level of care, and the registered nurse who joins the team should embody these qualities to contribute to the well-being and happiness of the patients.

We offer on staff CNE and CNS to ensure you are always learning and growing in the role, ensuring you can develop a range of top skills be used in your nursing practice. You will be supported by a dedicated NUM who focuses on succession planning and upskilling the team.

Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital is located in the city of Bankstown and is in one of the most multicultural local government areas (LGA) in Australia. This hospital has tertiary affiliations with three universities and offers a range of roles and experiences to employees.

The hospital receives highly diverse presentations in ED as well as having general medical and surgical services and sub-specialty services across the hospital.   1. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  2. Demonstrated recent experience as a Registered Nurse in an environment appropriate to the relevant speciality.
  3. Demonstrated ability to provide safe compassionate quality care that is culturally responsive.
  4. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs.
  5. Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise.
  6. Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of evidenced based nursing care.
  7. Demonstrated understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace.
