About the Opportunity
SWSLHD Perioperative services at Bankstown, Bowral, Campbelltown, Fairfield and Liverpool Hospitals are seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic nurses for the Perioperative Development Program. The program aims to grow staff skills in perioperative nursing across different specialties.

The Perioperative Development Program offers the successful applicants an opportunity to develop skills within 2 perioperative specialties over 2 six-month rotations within one facility (applicants to Bowral and Campbelltown Hospitals will have the opportunity to rotate to the other site for increased exposure to varying specialties). Specialties include Anaesthetics, Post Anaesthetic Care Unit and Instrument and Circulating Nursing, joining this program offers an opportunity to experience different specialties without leaving a secure position.

The program includes mandatory face to face study days where all participants will come together to develop their skills further and share their learnings in a supportive environment.

Participants are also supported by comprehensive learning and development pathways for each specialty to provide direction to their learning with clear objectives and outcomes to ensure a holistic approach to their knowledge and skill development. 

 

Where You'll Be Working 
Applicants who are successful will have the opportunity to select their first preference for facility, however may be offered a position at a different facility.

  • Bankstown – 2 positions 
  • Bowral – 1 position 
  • Campbelltown – 2 positions  
  • Fairfield  - 1 position
  • Liverpool – 3 positions

  1. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  2. Demonstrated recent experience as a Registered Nurse in an environment appropriate to the relevant speciality.
  3. Demonstrated ability to provide safe compassionate quality care that is culturally responsive.
  4. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs.
  5. Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise.
  6. Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of evidenced based nursing care.
  7. Demonstrated understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace.
