About the role
This is a multi-skilled nursing role principally involving clinical testing of Neuroscience patients in both the ambulatory and inpatient setting, working within the Neuroscience Ambulatory Care Unit – Mon to Friday from 0800-1700.
Clinical practice will include the recording of EEGs in various clinical locations, monitoring long term Video EEG Telemetry, tests required to diagnose disorders associated with Hearing and Balance, Autonomic Function Studies, Evoked Potentials, the administration of intravenous injections and working within the IV Infusion Clinic or any other testing which may become available as part of the diagnostic procedure within the Neurosciences Ambulatory Care Unit.
Additionally, other testing associated with Neurosciences including contributing to the operational management of the ENT and Ophthalmology clinics as required by the Nursing Unit Manager. Joining an on-call roster when proficient in Neurophysiology testing and working after-hours as required would be essential.
It will be necessary to liaise with clinicians and other health professionals and to provide education and support to patients and relatives attending the Department for testing or treatment.
Ideal Candidate
- Current Australian work rights
- Must be able to work autonomously with a variable workload
- Must have recent experience in the field of Neuroscience in an acute hospital setting
- Ability to work clinic hours Monday to Friday from 8.00 - 17.00 and participate in an on-call after hours rotating roster
