What you'll be doing

Act as the principal specialist in engineering and manage the infrastructure to deliver a range of strategic and operational services and initiatives across the Northern Sector.

The position leads the operational accountability for the delivery of high quality services, as well as day to day management of the engineering teams within allocated resources.

The Head, Infrastructure, Engineering and Redevelopment has management/governance oversight and responsibility for the provision of engineering, maintenance, energy management and fire safety for the Northern Sector of South Eastern Sydney Local Health District. The Department’s functions include plant operations and emergency, routine and preventative maintenance inclusive of fire safety and grounds management. The position will also implement appropriate management frameworks, tools and governance and compliance systems to improve the consistency and effectiveness of the local health district’s assets and infrastructure in accordance with the Ministry of Health’s Asset Management Policies

  1. Relevant qualification and extensive senior management experience in hospital facilities management, engineering, complex building services or similar, demonstrating an understanding of facilities management, including management of assets, infrastructure, engineering and maintenance services.
  2. Excellent strategic planning and policy development skills, including the ability to make complex judgements and take initiative within the delegated area.
  3. Demonstrated experience in the management of technical and trade staff in a complex, high volume maintenance and engineering services environment across multiple work sites using effective time management skills to meet competing deadlines and priorities.
  4. Demonstrated well-developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication, consultation and negotiation skills necessary to build and maintain effective collaborative relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  5. Demonstrated conceptual, planning, analytical, problem solving skills with the ability to create high quality documents, reports and electronic records including the use of Asset and Facilities Management systems and other ICT systems such as databases and Microsoft Office suite.
  6. Demonstrated understanding of contemporary legislation, standards, building codes and guidelines relating to maintenance, engineering and management.
  7. Demonstrated capability to drive organisational change in service practices whilst improving focus on customer service to achieve required service outcomes and the ability to motivate and work as part of a team with a commitment to delivering a quality service.
  8. Current drivers licence with a willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position.
