What you'll be doing

The Telephonist position is responsible for the efficient operation of high volume calls through the hospital switchboard and paging system, ensuring calls are answered in a timely manner, with clear and concise communication, providing a 24 hour service for SCHN. Duties also include clerical activities.

Provide quality customer service to patients, employees and members of the public, ensuring a respectful and helpful response is provided to all face-to-face and telephone enquiries, facilitating timely access to people and services and supporting a positive opinion of the health service. 

Consistently demonstrating behaviour that reinforces the CORE Values of our organisation: Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment; to colleagues, as well as patients, consumers and those that care for them.
  1. Demonstrated switchboard experience in providing assistance high volume call environment

  2. Ability to provide assistance in a polite, clear, well-spoken and calm manner in all circumstances.

  3. Willingness to work a 24 hour 7 days a week roster.

  4. Excellent organisational skills and time management skills with the ability to prioritise work

  5. Demonstrated ability to focus on the customer by interpreting their needs through well-developed listening, and questioning skills

  6. Team player attitude with demonstrated ability to use your initiative and work toward achieving team

  7. High level of computer literacy and attention to detail.
