What you'll be doing
This position is required to provide specialist Senior Clinical Psychology services for infants, children, adolescents, parents, and families of the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network (SCHN) Cardiac Service, Heart Centre for Children. 
The position is expected to provide psychological screening, assessment, testing, psychoeducation, intervention, and treatment for infants, children, and young people with all forms of childhood-onset heart disease and their families.

The position of Senior Clinical Psychologist (SCP) will ensure that;
•Excellent and expert evidence-based psychological care is provided to children and their families.
•Expert psychology input is provided to the multidisciplinary clinical team regarding strategies for assessment and management of psychological issues.
•Teaching and supervision activities of the clinical team are actively supported.
•Contributions to research, under the leadership of the HCfC Head of Psychology Research.
•Higher level duties are discharged in the area of administration, consultation, evaluation or training.
•Leadership and mentoring are provided to less experienced Clinical Psychologists within the department and wider hospital.

The SCP will fulfil a range of clinical, administrative, professional, teaching/training, or quality/research responsibilities, as outlined in the Key Accountabilities.  They will abide by the hospital code of conduct and participate in annual performance reviews.
  1. Completion of 2 year (minimum) full time equivalent accredited postgraduate Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology. Full registration with the AHPRA Psychology Board of Australia, with Clinical Psychology endorsement, or eligibility to progress to the same.
  2. Higher-level clinical skills and expertise working with infants, children, and adolescents with life-threatening, complex chronic illness, including a capacity to work with children and adults who have experienced complex grief and trauma. A strong understanding of psychological dynamics within families.
  3. At least 5 years experience working in a multidisciplinary team in a hospital setting.
  4. Experience and expertise in the provision of trauma-informed care, a capacity to work in a range of therapeutic modalities including attachment-based therapies, and an openness to develop skills in brief psychodynamic psychotherapy
  5. Advanced skills in teaching and the development of teaching material.
  6. Experience in the provision of consultation and clinical supervision.
  7. Demonstrated research and publication.
  8. Capable of independent initiation as well as ability to work well in a team.
