What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of this position is to provide neuropsychological assessment and management for children and adolescents who attend the NF1 Learning Clinic and as part of their participation in research conducted by the Neuropsychology Research Team, Kids Neuroscience Centre, The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
The clinical neuropsychologist will liaise and provide verbal and written feedback to patients, patient families and schools, where appropriate, as per best clinical practice. There will be additional research responsibilities including, but not limited to, assisting with intervention research studies, developing research protocols, assisting with the analysis and publication of research.
 
The Clinical Neuropsychologist will be required to deliver clinical care in line with research protocols while also adhering to safe clinical practice.
  1. Minimum 2-year full time equivalent accredited post-graduate Masters or Doctorate Degree in Clinical Neuropsychology.
  2. Current general registration as a psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and endorsement with the Psychology Board of Australia in the area of Clinical Neuropsychology or eligible to progress to same.
  3. Demonstrated experience to work independently as well as effectively within a multidisciplinary team to accomplish research and service goals and improved patient and/or consumer care and outcomes.
  4. Demonstrated experience in the provision of clinical neuropsychology assessment to children and adolescents for the assessment of developmental, cognitive and learning difficulties. This includes ability in the areas of the administration, interpretation and report writing for a wide range of psychometric tests for children and adolescents.
  5. Demonstrated experience in implementing and providing clinical neuropsychological assessments in an efficient and timely manner.
  6. Demonstrated experience in conducting research and knowledge of research methods.
  7. Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit the target audience including the ability to communicate in a sensitive and professional manner with patients and staff.
  8. Demonstrated research statistical experience (e.g. SPSS) and research track record for peer reviewed publications.

Applicants currently enrolled in a combined Masters/PhD are eligible to apply if they have completed the equivalent of Masters degree requirements as part of the PhD pathwayEvidence of this is demonstrated by a completed PDEC-76 form and cover letter from the University confirming Masters degree requirements have been met.   

Applicants are eligible to apply if they have completed an accredited Masters degree and are awaiting their graduation ceremony. Written confirmation from the University is required.   

Successful applicants who have completed the Masters degree or Masters degree requirements and are awaiting full registration from the Psychology Board of Australia will be paid at Year 2 of the Psychologist Scale until they have full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia, at which point they will commence on Year 1 of the Clinical Psychologist scale.
