What you'll be doing
The Specialist Mental Health Pharmacist/Rotational clinical pharmacist is responsible for providing a comprehensive range of pharmacy services to outpatients and inpatients and to ensure the quality use of medicines within the mental health and hospital setting.
This includes but is not limited to drug distribution, manufacturing, clinical pharmacy services, outpatient services, drug information, education and research.
-Provide specialist expert opinion and advice on medications to physicians and other health care providers, patients, and their carers, in Acute Psychiatry, Mental Health Clinics and on long-term care wards as needed.
-Attend relevant Mental Health ward rounds and meetings to provide input into decisions regarding medications and patient outcomes.
-Provide direct and indirect patient care activities, monitoring and assessing the efficacy, safety and appropriateness of medication therapy.
Facilitate patient discharge by coordinating discharge prescription needs and follow-up clinic appointments especially with respect to Clozapine dispensing.
-Perform audits, develop guidelines and make recommendations to ensure the high quality, cost-effective utilisation of medication within the Mental Health Service and participate in the Mental Health Drug and Alcohol (MHDA) Medication Committee.
-Participate in the general pharmacy weekend, public holiday and on-call rosters including meeting cover as rostered.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Must hold registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia.
- Demonstrated skills and knowledge in the provision of Pharmacy services to consumers, carers and families requiring medication reconciliation, dispensing and dosing.
- Demonstrated specialist knowledge in the care of Mental Health patients
- Proven ability to work independently and to establish effective collaborative working relationships within a multi-disciplinary team and interagency networks.
