What you'll be doing
The Triage and Assessment Registered Nurse will work collaboratively with ED, PECC, Access and inpatient staff across all settings triaging consumers ensuring they are assessed and treated in the most suited environment to meet their individualised needs.

This Nursing role will see you work with both acute care services and community-based services to ensure a smooth transition between clinical streams facilitating a high level of continuity of care that is culturally, linguistically and gender appropriate and in collaboration with the client develop and document a comprehensive after hours/emergency action plan that incorporates prevention and early intervention strategies.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine (except for the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine which is approved by the TGA as a single dose primary course). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form – IM011 form). 
 
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. 

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.


Selection Criteria to be addressed:

  1. Current registration to practice as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) including completion of a new graduate RN program and/ or experience working as a Registered Nurse.
  2. Demonstrated experience working with people presenting with an acute mental health problem.
  3. Demonstrated advanced reasoning skills with proven ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team within minimal direct clinical supervision.
  4. Proven effective high level written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and ability to exercise independent professional judgement when solving problems.
  5. Working knowledge of the NSW Mental Health Act 2007.
  6. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with consumers and carers regarding mental healthcare.
  7. An understanding of the recovery philosophy and trauma informed care in Mental Health and the ability to implement these within clinical practice.
  8. Current Driver's Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel.
