What you'll be doing:
An excellent opportunity for a Registered Nurse is now available to join the Diabetes team in the role of Diabetes Educator. This is a wonderful Permanent Part time opportunity located at Nepean Hospital.

This imperative role will see you provide safe and effective support via Diabetes Education to the patients/clients and carers and deliver a high standard of education to people with diabetes, their family/support groups and the community.

You role will be to work collaboratively with members of the multidisciplinary health team in the planning, implementation, assessment and evaluation of services provided within the unit and to ensure optimal outcomes for patients/clients and carers of the service, promoting best practice including the appropriate escalation of care.

work collaboratively utilising effective team communication with members of the multidisciplinary health team in the planning, implementation, assessment and evaluation of patient care and to act as an advocate for the specific needs of all patients/clients and carers including those from the indigenous population or other multi-cultural groups, whilst maintaining and promoting a professional standard evidenced by ethical nursing practice, adherence to the policies and procedures of the Nursing and Midwifery Service, NBMLHD and the appropriate legislation and statutory regulations.

New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form – IM011 form).

 

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

 

 

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.

Selection criteria to be addressed:

  1. Current registration as Registered Nurse (Division 1) with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  2. Completed Graduate Certificate in Diabetes Management and Education or equivalent experience
  3. Credentialed Diabetes Educator (CDE) or eligible for CDE or willingness to obtain
  4. Current Driver's Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel
  5. Demonstrated effective communication skills – written, verbal and electronic. This includes a working knowledge of EMR, Office applications, Internet data retrieval and formal correspondence
  6. Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise work
  7. Demonstrated commitment to professional development
