Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical/dental practitioners for the above position (s) in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District. The position will be primarily located at Nepean Hospital within the Department of Anaesthesia & Pain Management.
Successful applicants will be committed, caring physicians with excellent communication and team
working skills with the capacity to contribute to an interdisciplinary team in order to provide
innovative high-quality care.
Successful applicants may be offered a conjoint university appointment within the Faculty of Medicine at the relevant University attached to each facility. The level of academic appointment will be commensurate with the qualifications, experience and scholarship and will be held only during the tenure of the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District appointment. No remuneration is attached to the University appointment. The appointee will be responsible to the University for academic matters and to the District for clinical matters.
Appointees may be eligible for credentialing and privileging across all other facilities in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.

Selection Criteria
1. Possess or be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
2. Possess Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine and/or equivalent specialist recognition as provided for by the Health Insurance Act 1997 and Staff Specialists (State) Award, and evidence of continuing medical education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position.
3. Exceptional clinical knowledge in Pain Medicine demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality assurance activities relevant to the specialty, including interventional pain therapies.
4. High level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team.
5. Demonstrated commitment to teaching and junior medical staff supervision consistent with contemporary best practice supervision standards.
6. Demonstrates the skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including modelling of a high standard of professional behaviour to junior medical staff.
7. Exceptional clinical knowledge in the subspecialty of Pain Medicine demonstrated by relevant qualifications and/or appropriate post-Fellowship clinical experience, including interventional pain therapies.
8. Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic, applied, or clinical research as required within the Department would be looked on favourably.
Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Health Services Act 1997, and Staff Specialists (State) Award.
