About the roles
Available positions: 2x positions, 2-year temporary roles (up to 2026) 

ROLE 1: Senior Policy Officer 
The Senior Policy Officer is responsible for policy development and advice on matters related to education, training and distribution of the specialist and non-specialist medical workforce. The role will oversee multiple projects related to the NSW medical workforce, including the IMG Clinical Readiness Program and consultation on the future of the Assistant in Medicine role. The role will also support some high-level workforce committees. 

This role will suit someone interested in developing their skills in program management with a keen interest in the medical and multidisciplinary workforce.

Clerk Grade 9/10 salary, from $120,859 to $133,183 (plus Super and Annual Leave loading)

ROLE 2: Senior Project Officer - Research
This is an exciting new opportunity to lead a research project to help understand what influences doctors to choose a career as a rural generalist and what factors help keep them in the rural generalist career path. There are some reporting and financial responsibilities s part of this role. 

This role would suit a researcher with 3-5 years of experience in qualitative and quantitative research looking to develop their skills within the public sector.

Clerk Grade 9/10 salary, from $120,859 to $133,183 (plus Super and Annual Leave loading)

About you
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals with:

  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent professional experience to align with the role description and selection criteria.
  • Demonstrated experience and/or understanding of working and consulting with government and non-government agencies and a wide range of stakeholders to address sensitive and/or contentious issues.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the processes for, and experience in policy development and analysis, and project management, including financial and risk management.
  • High-level interpersonal, negotiation and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated capacity for self-directed work and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Specific to the Senior Project Officer – Research role - Demonstrated experience in developing research proposals and undertaking research activities.
