NBMLHD Community Mental Health offer a range of specialised services for children, young people, families and older people, through our community-based services and health centres. Our multidisciplinary health professionals and case managers take a collaborative approach to mental health care by linking with their patients to work together and consult within an environment appropriate to the person's needs.
Our Mental Health Young Persons Team is seeking to engage a qualified Mental Health Clinical Lead. This position provides line management and clinical leadership (alongside the Staff Specialists) on youth mental health programs within CYF-MH including the Early Psychosis Intervention (EPI) program and Youth Mental Health (YMH) Initiative Clinicians.
The successful incumbent will provide assessments and up to 2 years of intensive treatment for young people aged 12 – 24 years who present with first episode psychosis or who are identified as ultra-high risk of developing psychosis. It provides evidence-based assessment and therapy through individual, family and group interventions. Together with the EPI Team, you will use a multidisciplinary team approach and work in partnership with other service providers.

What you will bring to the role
- Qualifications as follows: a) Occupational Therapist- Degree in Occupational Therapy with current Registration with AHPRA; or b) Social Worker - Degree in Social Work from an accredited course providing eligibility for membership of the AASW; or c) Registered Nurse Division 1 with AHPRA with either relevant post-registration qualifications in Mental Health Leadership or working towards attainment or demonstrated experience as deemed relevant by the organisation; or d) Senior Psychologist- Registered Psychologist with current APHRA registration and have completed a minimum of one-year full time equivalent at the 9th year of service for a psychologist; or e) Clinical Psychologist- Master's Degree or higher, full registration as a psychologist and endorsement to practise as a clinical psychologist with AHPRA endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist or eligibility to progress to the same.
- Demonstrated experience in leadership and management of a team. This includes the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team, to work independently, and to exercise independent judgement on issues requiring advanced clinical reasoning
- Demonstrated competence in evidence based clinical assessment and intervention with young people (12-24) experiencing severe and complex mental health problems, including family-focused approaches, acute care and early psychosis.
- Demonstrated partnership building and negotiation skills with a wide range of service providers and well developed understanding of the interface between services
- Demonstrated understanding of the legal and policy framework which governs mental health and child protection within NSW
- Evidence of an advanced level of verbal/ written communication skills, analytical and interpersonal skills, and ability to apply these to both clinical and management related tasks.
- Demonstrated leadership in clinical service planning; developing, coordinating and implementing innovative projects including quality improvement projects, and translating evidence into practise
- Current NSW drivers’ licence (P2 Licence Acceptable) and willingness to use same for work purposes
