Where you'll be working
Sydney and Sydney Eye Hospital offers quality health care to city residents, workers, visitors and tourists. Our specialist services attract patients from all over NSW.
Clinical services provided are a 24hr Emergency Department (for eyes and general) and outpatient departments (eyes, general and hands). Clinical wards include Eyes, Hands, and General Medicine as well as the Peri-Operative Suite.
Sydney and Sydney Eye Hospital is a quaternary referral unit for Eye diseases, providing surgical and medical management of vitreo-retinal, corneal, glaucoma, oculo-plastic, uveitis, and oculo-oncology conditions.
Sydney and Sydney Eye Hospital has a dedicated Hand Unit and is a tertiary referral centre for hand trauma, abnormalities and diseases.
Your clinical caseload will include ward inpatients (Gerneral Medicine) and outpatient Hand Therapy. Both formal and informal clinical supervision is provided by the senior Hand Therapy team. The Hand therapy unit had a coordinated continuing education program that all staff participate in.
The Role
The purpose of this role is:
1. To use clinical knowledge, skill and clinical expertise to provide a high level of physiotherapy services within the role and function of the Sydney/Sydney Eye Hospital.
2. To provide these services to patients from two different caseloads - medical (inpatients) and hands (inpatients and outpatients).
3. Evaluation of the ward (inpatient) Physiotherapy service including the collection of appropriate activity data and outcome information.

- Post-graduate general public hospital experience including respiratory and orthopaedic physiotherapy. Ability to participate in the weekend on-call roster.
- More than two years post-graduate general public hospital experience including respiratory and orthopaedic physiotherapy
- Some experience in Hand Therapy. This should include the therapeutic management of traumatic hand injuries
- Demonstrated ability to effectively utilise a range of written and verbal communication skills
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Demonstrated ability in audit or other clinical improvement activities
