Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. POWH provides an exceptional staff experience and enhanced patient and family outcomes as a result of the provision of person-centred care.

The Role:

The Volunteer Services Manager oversees the coordination and management of volunteer services across Prince of Wales and Sydney/Sydney Eye Hospital. The role is primarily focused on the recruitment, planning, organisation and scheduling of volunteer services to support the organisation to provide assistance in clinical care delivery in a complementary support function or as part of a specific project.

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in a Health-related field or relevant equivalent work experience, or a combination of study and work experience
  2. Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills with a strong customer service approach
  3. Demonstrated leadership skills to enhance staff performance, influence workplace culture and lead change.
  4. Demonstrated high level analytical and problem-solving skills that lead to the development of innovative solutions to meet workplace needs
  5. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with senior management and other key stakeholders.
  6. Demonstrated ability to provide input, interpret, monitor, and evaluate policies, procedures and standards in accordance with approved guidelines for volunteers in the hospital setting.
  7. Demonstrated leadership and workforce management skills, including the ability to recruit, train and develop staff/volunteers to meet service objectives.
  8. Current drivers licence (with a willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position)
