The Clinical Neurophysiology Unit is part of the Department of Neurology, Institute of Neurological Sciences, Prince of Wales Hospital and is a shared service with Sydney Children’s Hospital. The Unit provides diagnostic electrophysiological services to referred outpatients as well as inpatients of the Prince of Wales Hospital, Sydney Children's Hospital, the Royal Hospital for Women and the Prince of Wales Private Hospital. Patients of all ages are studied, with investigations performed in the Unit as well as on the wards, in the operating theatre and intensive care, if required. A full range of clinical neurophysiological diagnostic services is provided. The Unit is actively involved in both training and research.

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.

All workers and new recruits are required to receive 2 doses of a Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine to commence employment/ engagement or continue to work within a NSW Health service.

A worker and new recruit will be considered compliant if they have a medical contraindication to all available Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccines and provide medical contraindication evidence in line with the policy requirements.

In addition, all Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.

Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza or COVID-19 vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position.

  1.  Holder of a suitable certificate or course of training as, in the opinion of the employer, is appropriate.
  2.  Ability, or willingness to learn, to record high quality electrophysiological investigations in a clinical environment with variable levels of   supervision, in a manner safe to themselves and their patients.
  3.  Willingness to undertake in-service or other training and acquire new skills relevant to the position.
  4.  Ability to work with computer-based equipment and common software packages.
  5.  Willingness to perform other tasks relevant to the efficient functioning of the Clinical Neurophysiology Unit, as requested.
