About the opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists to join our high performing Clinical IT Operations Team! We are recruiting a temporary (1 year) Full-Time, Technology Specialist to provide desktop support for laboratory staff. The successful candidate will be primarily working out of Prince of Wales & Sydney hospitals.

We operate more than 60 laboratories and around 200 collection centres across NSW and conduct over 60 million tests per annum. Our network of pathologists are supported by scientists, technicians and support staff who quickly and accurately assess samples so clinical teams can make the best possible treatment decisions for patients. We encourage our staff to be involved in research and innovation opportunities to help create safer, healthier communities. Our Forensic & Analytical Science Service provides independent, objective analysis to the NSW criminal and coronial justice system.

What you'll be doing

  • Serve as the first point of contact for customers seeking assistance with desktop hardware. This may include the installation of software
  • Perform remote troubleshooting to resolve problems through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions
  • Direct unresolved issues to the next level of support personnel
  • Provide accurate information on desktop hardware, software applications or services where required
  • Record events and problems and their resolution in logs
  • Pass on any feedback or suggestions by customers or other contributors to the appropriate internal team
  • Identify and suggest possible improvements on procedures

    1. Demonstrated previous experience in providing Help Desk and/or desktop hardware support
    2. Experience managing and supporting desktop hardware, including PC's, Laptops and printers, and software including Windows operating systems and corporate applications such as MS Office
    3. Familiarity with basic networking protocols and principles
    4. Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with Help Desk applications such as ServiceNow and JIRA
    5. High level written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, able to explain and recommend solutions to non-technical people
    6. Demonstrated ability and desire to work in a team environment
    7. Demonstrated ability to create and maintain accurate and up to date documentation
