About the Opportunity
Liverpool Hospital is recruiting for a Sterilisation Technician to complement and enhance the current Sterilisation Services Department. This role involves reprocessing surgical instruments and presents an interesting opportunity to work in a busy Sterile Services Department that collaborates with Operating Theatres, Wards, and Clinics.

This is a great opportunity to progress towards qualifying at a higher level as a Senior Sterilisation Technician.

 

What You'll be Doing
The purpose of Grade 1 Sterilisation Technician is to provide a quality customer service by undertaking the operational activities performed by the Sterilising Services Department, for the process of reusable medical devices in accordance with AS/NZS4187:2014. This position requires good work ethics, commitment to future professional development and ability to follow instructions under routine supervision.

 

Where You'll Be Working
Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation.

The Hospital provides a health service of international standing, with 23 operating theatres, capacity for 877 beds, diagnostic and imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity, paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and medical and surgical services from birth to aged care.

Liverpool Hospital is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. The $790 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) project will provide enhanced facilities and an increased capacity to meet future significant population growth for South Western Sydney.

Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the University of NSW and the Western Sydney University and also welcome students from over 20 universities and colleges.

Located in the heart of Liverpool City, the hospital is close to public transport, shopping centres and eateries.

  1. Good understanding of Infection Prevention and Control and WH&S requirements.
  2. Willing to develop professionally, accept constructive criticism and competency assessment for tasks performed as a Sterilisation Technician.
  3. Ability to work in a busy environment with changing priorities, along with sound communication skills, both written and verbal, to ensure effective listening, understanding, and following directions, and demonstrated ability to work as an integral team member under the supervision and guidance of a Staff Supervisor.
  4. On completion of training and competency assessment, ability to work a rotating roster, including weekends and Public Holidays for the provision of a 7 day service to the Peri-Operative Services Department.
