Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the above position Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.  The position will be primarily located at Blue Mountains District ANZAC Memorial Hospital within the Department of General Medicine.

Successful applicants will be capable of managing a General Medicine intake; however, a Subspecialty of Geriatric Medicine and or Cardiology will be well regarded.

Appointees may be eligible for credentialing and privileging across all other facilities in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.

 Selection Criteria

  1. Possess or be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  2. Possess Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and/or equivalent specialist recognition as provided for by the Health Insurance Act 1997 and Staff Specialists (State) Award, and Evidence of continuing medical education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position.
  3. Sound clinical knowledge in General Medicine demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality assurance activities relevant to the specialty.
  4. High level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team.
  5. Demonstrated commitment to teaching and junior medical staff supervision consistent with contemporary best practice supervision standards.
  6. Demonstrates the skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including modelling of a high standard of professional behaviour to junior medical staff.
  7. Sound clinical knowledge in the subspecialty of General Medicine demonstrated by relevant qualifications and/or appropriate post-Fellowship clinical experience.
  8. Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic, applied or clinical research as required within the Department.
