Counsellor Level 3: $56.68 - $58.52 per hour
Psychologist: $39.01 - $57.10 per hour
Senior Psychologist: $60.12 - $65.14 per hour
Social Worker Level 3: $56.68 - $58.52 per hour

About The Opportunity 
This is a deeply rewarding opportunity for a passionate mental health professional to support the wellbeing of frontline health staff across Liverpool and Fairfield Hospitals. You’ll play a vital role in fostering resilience and emotional strength within the workforce, providing confidential counselling, group education, and structured debriefing sessions that address both personal and professional challenges.

Working within a dedicated and collaborative team, you’ll engage with a broad spectrum of clinical and non-clinical staff facing diverse presentations—from stress and burnout to grief, trauma, and workplace conflict. Your ability to deliver tailored support will make a tangible difference in the lives of those caring for others.

This role is designed to promote sustainability and self-care, with a carefully managed caseload of no more than five client-facing hours per day. You'll also benefit from regular internal debriefs and external professional supervision, ensuring you're well-supported as you deliver high-impact work.

You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to innovative wellbeing initiatives and quality improvement strategies, while advancing your own skills through ongoing professional development and training. Whether providing one-on-one sessions, facilitating team education, or engaging in strategic service improvement, you’ll be helping to build a healthier, more connected healthcare community.


What You'll Be Doing
The EAP Counsellor will provide a variety of services as part of the LHD Employee Assistance Program including short-term, confidential, solution focused counselling across a range of presenting issues for all LHD based staff and their families; stakeholder liaison and collaboration with other LHD business units, consultancy with Managers at every level towards addressing work-related issues, promoting employee wellbeing, and trauma support (post incident), advisory and counselling to staff when required.  This position assists the LHD meet the requirements of “Employee Assistance Programs: NSW Health “(PD2016_045) and ACHS Accreditation standards.

  1. Relevant qualifications in one or more of the disciplines as mentioned in Essential Requirements.
  2. Demonstrated experience in providing high quality clinical short-term interventions to address a broad range of personal and work related issues, via a number of modalities (e.g.: face to face, phone, online).
  3. Demonstrated experience in providing critical incident support and psychological first aid with both individuals and groups following a traumatic work related incident or event.
  4. Demonstrated knowledge and insight into the diverse cultural backgrounds represented within SWSLHD, with a clear understanding of the opportunities and considerations that cultural diversity brings to the workplace.
  5. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
