Nurse Educator Grade 1 is the grade used for Registered Nurses holding post registration nursing clinical or education qualifications relevant to the clinical area in which he/she is appointed; and who is appointed to a position of Nurse Educator Grade 1 (NE1). A NE1 shall be responsible for the development and delivery of nursing education courses/programs at the public hospital, or the community based service level. Nurse education courses/programs shall mean courses/programs such as: Post-registration certificates; Continuing nurse education; Transition programs for newly registered nurses and newly registered enrolled nurses; Post enrolment enrolled nurses' courses, and general staff development courses (where applicable).

  1. Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.
  2. Recent experience in the development of practice.
  3. Holding post registration clinical or education qualification relevant to the position.
  4. Demonstrated effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation.
  5. Demonstrated ability to develop, coordinate, deliver and evaluate education and training programs.
  6. Demonstrated understanding of contemporary adult learning principles.
  7. Demonstrated recent educational experience in emergency nursing, in an acute care facility.
