An exciting opportunity exists to join the experience speech pathology team at Prince of Wales. We are currently looking for clinicians to provide acute care services across a range of different wards, from Sunday to Friday on a temporary, part-time basis until June 2025.
Where you'll be working
Based in the brand new, recently opened acute services building, you will be part of a friendly and supportive team that values wellbeing and professional development. The role will provide an opportunity to gain diverse experience as you deliver speech pathology services to a variety of different clinical areas, including aged care, respiratory, CTICU, oncology and surgical.
What you'll be doing
You will plan, coordinate, and implement high quality Speech Pathology assessment and management to acute wards across the hospital based on clinical demand, and will be well supported by a team of experienced speech pathology clinicians. Your service delivery will be consistent with NSW Health, South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) policies, procedures and standards.

Selection Criteria:
- Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award and an ability to demonstrate eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia (SPA)
- Extensive post graduate clinical experience in the assessment and management of adult dysphagia and communication disorders within an acute hospital setting, including competency in conducting and interpreting video fluoroscopic swallowing studies (VFSS) /modified barium swallow studies (MBS).
- Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, throughout all organisational levels
- Ability to provide in-depth advice and education to enhance service delivery and to guide and support others in providing service excellence, with the capacity to provide clinical supervision to other staff
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature
- Ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes and lead ongoing quality improvement activities with other staff
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing clinical and professional learning
- Demonstrated commitment to a positive workplace culture.
