About Us

The Primary Care and Community Health Unit consists of 9 centres that provide a range of services for children, young people and their families, adults, older people and their carers. Our services range from health promotion, prevention and early detection through to assessment, treatment and continuing care. Our staff work in partnership with schools, GPs, hospitals, non-government agencies and other organisations to provide care across our centres, in people’s homes, other community venues as well as virtual care (telehealth).
An opportunity has become available for a Speech Pathologist Level 1/2 to join The Primary Care and Community Health Unit.
The successful candidate will provide Speech Pathology services for children, utilising a primary health care approach which includes assessment, intervention, health promotion and education to individual clients and community groups
The position will be based in the Penrith LGA. This role will see you working across multiple Community Health Centres. This position is a Level 1/2 position, depending on experience. New graduates are welcome to apply.

What you will bring to the role:
- Degree in Speech Pathology or equivalent and eligible for practising membership of Speech Pathology Australia
- Level 1: newly qualified Speech Pathologist with less than three years clinical experience; Level 2: a minimum of three years clinical experience as a Speech Pathologist and the ability to work with minimal supervision and experience providing paediatric Speech Pathology services.
- Demonstrated experience in providing paediatric Speech Pathology services and ability to work in partnership with families to provide effective interventions for children, within a limited session model.
- Demonstrated experience and ability to work effectively with families from different psychosocial, socio-economic and/or culturally diverse backgrounds.
- Demonstrated experience working in a multidisciplinary team within a community setting and an understanding of primary health care principles.
- Demonstrated understanding of the indicators of child protection issues and mandatory reporting guidelines and responsibilities.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and the ability to utilise information technology systems within a variety of applications (e.g. CHIME, Cerner, Outlook) and a commitment to undertake training in electronic health record systems as required.
- Current Driver's Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel. This may include driving long distances across the Local Health District.
