About the Opportunity
NSW Refugee Health Service (RHS) is currently seeking a Senior social worker to work in our busy multidisciplinary team.  You will have experience working with refugee populations and extensive experience working with clients with complex health and social needs. This is a full time role.

 

What You'll be Doing
In this role, you will manage the social work team, supervise students and work closely with our nursing and allied health teams. You’ll also work in partnership with settlement agencies and refugee community organisations to achieve positive outcomes for our clients, many of whom have come from traumatic backgrounds. The role will also involve quality improvement activities and representation on various networks.

  1. A Social Work degree which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).  Extensive post graduate experience working as a Social Worker in relevant clinical areas, including a demonstrated understanding of the health setting, complex health conditions and the impact on wellbeing.
  2. Demonstrated experience in prioritising a challenging and demanding workload; managing stressful situations; and applying advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel or critical nature.
  3. Experience working independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team
  4. Demonstrated high level communication skills (written and verbal), and demonstrated computer skills.
  5. Demonstrated experience in the provision of clinical supervision and expert advice/consultation to the social work service and the clinical specialty.
  6. Experience supervising staff or social work students.
  7. Demonstrated experience in the planning, implementing, leading and evaluating of quality improvement activities involving the application of evidenced based practice within social work.
  8. Demonstrated understanding and commitment to social justice, and to the issues of access and equity in health.
  9. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
