What you'll be doing
The Northern Sydney Sexual Assault Service provides an integrated tertiary level overall response to people who have experienced or are affected by sexual assault and children under the age of ten with problematic harmful sexual behaviours. The Sexual Assault Counsellor is responsible for the provision of integrated counselling and case management services to children, young persons and adults who are victims of sexual assault and their non-offending family members, including the provision of crisis counselling & support and facilitation of forensic/medical services as required as well as services to children under ten with problematic harmful sexual behaviours.
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Full registration with AHPRA as a Psychologist who has completed 9 years of service as a minimum or tertiary qualifications in Social Work and eligibility for the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and post graduate experience at a minimum of level 2 or above. Applicants must be Female – Under Section 31 (2) (h) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
- Extensive post graduate experience in crisis intervention, client centered trauma informed advocacy and the delivery of trauma model of counselling from within a feminist framework.
- Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge, skill and significant clinical experience in the provision of crisis and longer-term counselling interventions to children, young people and/or adults who have experienced sexual assault and other forms of violence, abuse and neglect, including children under ten with problematic harmful sexual behaviours.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in an interagency environment using strong advocacy, negotiation and problem-solving skills to build networks with key stakeholders and plan, deliver and coordinate patient care.
- Ability to participate in the 24hr PARAN on Call Service and current unrestricted NSW Driver's License and willingness to provide services at different locations within NSLHD
