About the role:
- You will be based and work out of the John Hunter Hospital, Biomedical Engineering department in association with a team focussed on managing the John Hunter Hospital Campus medical device assets and in association to our regional hospital’s biomedical teams and assets.
- As a senior person in this team some Overnight stays in regional centres may be required.
- You will be a collaborative team player with strong communication and planning skills, capable of liaising effectively with staff at all levels—from trades colleagues to nurses, doctors, and clients. You will support the continuity of services and ensure service delivery meets the organisation’s needs.
- Liaise with individual Departments to arrange suitable times and conditions for maintenance works within their department and attend meetings to provide biomedical engineering advice to Facility Managers and other staff as necessary.
- Participate in the preparation and implementation of biomedical equipment maintenance & replacement plans and provide professional advice on biomedical equipment and biomedical engineering services.
- Participate in an “On Call Roster” for out of hours support to John Hunter Hospital.
- You will receive face to face/online specific Biomedical Engineering training in line with responsibilities and duties associated with medical devices. Further support will provide by the Director and Deputy Director Biomedical Engineering along with the Senior Technical Officer Peer group. The HNELHD ensure the delivery of an Orientation program as well as further mandatory and elective training available through the internal online My Health learning application.
About You:
As our successful candidate, you will be a team player with highly developed communication and planning skills, capable of liaising with staff at all levels—from trades colleagues to nurses, doctors, and clients. Key attributes for this position include:
- Excellent communication, comprehension, reporting, and documentation skills
- Strong team player with demonstrated leadership abilities, time management and ability to prioritise workloads
- Solid experience and knowledge of Biomedical Engineering fundamentals
- Hold a Qualification which is at least AQF Certificate 4 Level.
- Have extensive knowledge & practical experience in the implementation of AS3551 for purposes of equipment testing & verification in conjunction with other relevant medical standards
- 5 years Biomedical Experience desirable.
