About the Opportunity

Liverpool Hospital Speech Pathology Department is a great place to work. Our paediatric service is known for being innovative, having a strong emphasis on embedding latest evidence into clinical care, and contributing to the research base with our academic partnerships.

This senior position leads the SWSLHD quality award winning ‘Ready Set Go’ service working with children, living in vulnerable communities, with a variety of communication difficulties. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work closely with the paediatric team leader to lead the Ready Set Go service and supervise staff. You will be well supported and provided with access to supervision and professional development. An eligibility list will be created for other opportunities that may arise.


What You'll be Doing

The position is responsible for leading, guiding and managing the delivery of speech pathology services to children with communication and feeding difficulties as part of the Ready Set Go program in the suburbs of the Liverpool area falling in the postcode 2168.

As a senior clinician the speech pathologist is responsible for overseeing and providing an efficient and effective service through the application of clinical expertise and knowledge in the management of paediatric clients with communication and feeding difficulties.

They will also contribute to senior departmental duties including clinical supervision, program evaluation, leading of quality improvement activities, participation in service development, stakeholder engagement with the funding organisation (Mission Australia) and other administrative responsibilities as required.

  1. Must hold a bachelor or post graduate degree in speech pathology which provides eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
  2. Advanced clinical knowledge and postgraduate experience and skills in assessing and managing paediatric clients with a variety of communication disorders and feeding difficulties in a community health type setting.
  3. Demonstrated experience working with at risk communities ensuring the provision of client/family centred care.
  4. Demonstrated experience supervising staff and/or students.
  5. Demonstrated leadership in the planning, implementation and evaluation of local service delivery incorporating the quality improvement process.
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, computer literacy and time management.
  7. Demonstrated commitment to EBP and experience implementing EBP into service planning and evaluation of service changes.
