The Role:

The vision for South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is ‘exceptional care, healthier lives’. SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well, and to providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it.

The NSW Sexually Transmissible Infections Programs Unit (STIPU) is hosted by South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) and operates within the Centre for Population Health, NSW Ministry of Health. STIPU provides leadership and expertise in sexual health through evidence-based clinical practice, health promotion, harm reduction, and community engagement. Guided by the NSW HIV and STI Strategies, the Unit designs, i mplements, and evaluates state-wide programs and interventions. It also fosters strategic partnerships across the health system and government sectors, offering high-level policy advice, supporting sexual health services, and contributing to research and evaluation initiatives.

This position, Senior Program Manager, is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating programs that enhance service and workforce capacity to deliver best-practice clinical care and health promotion. These programs are designed to address the needs of NSW’s priority populations, including young people, Aboriginal communities, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, LGBTQ+ communities, and people with HIV.

Using system change and capacity-building frameworks, the role contributes to policy and resource development, as well as communication strategies. It involves close collaboration with Local Health Districts (including Publicly Funded Sexual Health Services and HIV/AIDS and Related Programs), Primary Health Networks, government departments, and non-government and corporate partners.

Given the dynamic nature of STIPU’s work, the position requires adaptability to align with evolving NSW health priorities and strategies.
