An exciting opportunity exists for a passionate and experienced senior mental health clinician to join the multi-disciplinary team of the Northern Beaches Child and Youth Mental Health Service (NB CYMHS). NB CYMHS is a multi-disciplinary community mental health service providing specialist assessment and intervention to children and young people experiencing severe and complex mental health difficulties through a range of individual, family based and group therapy programs.

Clinical Nurse Consultant (Grade 1): $2,357.90 - $2,406.10 

Allied Health Professional (Level 4): $2,252.73 - $2,307.33 

Senior Psychologist: $2,207.32 - $2,391.84

Where you'll be working
The Northern Beaches Child & Youth Mental Health Service (NB CYMHS) Senior Social Worker role is primarily based at Brookvale Community Health Centre. NB CYMHS also provide clinical services through the Mona Vale and Dalwood community health centre sites.

 

What you'll be doing

The Senior Intake Clinician, in collaboration with the NB CYMHS Service Manager and Clinical Lead, will provide expert clinical leadership, supervision and oversight to the CYMHS intake /assessment team to ensure delivery of high-quality evidence-based mental health triage, mental health and risk assessments, incorporating implementing and reviewing safety plans for young people presenting in crisis. The Senior Intake Clinician will be required to exercise independent clinical judgement, initiative, and problem-solving skills to provide senior clinical support to the multi-disciplinary clinicians within the CYMHS intake and assessment team and to other relevant stakeholders. The role will also involve direct provision of clinical assessment and care to young people and their families.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications and current full AHPRA registration (or eligibility for membership of AASW for Social Workers). Allied Health Professionals require experience at a minimum level 2 clinician or equivalent. Clinical Nurse Consultants must have a minimum of 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience and relevant post graduate qualifications, or other such qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the employer. Clinical Psychologists will have a Masters degree or higher in Clinical Psychology, Clinical Neuropsychology, or some other recognised clinical area that the employer deems relevant.
  2. Demonstrated ability to provide clinical leadership, service coordination and support to a multi-disciplinary team, including direct clinical care.
  3. Demonstrated comprehensive training/qualifications and skills in the assessment, formulation and provision of brief clinical interventions for children and adolescents affected by mental health problems, their families/carers and broader system of care.
  4. Proven excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills including the ability to consult and liaise effectively with a diverse range of people and work within a multidisciplinary team. Ability to apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature.
