About The Opportunity
South Western Sydney Local Health District is looking for an experienced employment lawyer to join its District Human Resources, Industrial Relations & Legal Team. The ideal candidate will have at least 6 years of Post Graduate experience and an unrestricted practicing certificate (or be eligible to obtain one).

The Senior Industrial Relations & Legal Officer is responsible for providing industrial relations & legal expertise, strategic advice and operational support on a wide range of employment and industrial issues including negotiations with industrial associations and representing SWSLHD at various tribunals and courts.

What You'll Be Doing
Manage as required, and assist in the provision of advice/representation and coordination of Employee Relations / Industrial Relations matters which require input from the South Western Sydney Local Health District Human Resources Department.

  1. Relevant Tertiary Qualifications from an Australian Tertiary Institution or a comparable overseas qualification, plus a current unrestricted NSW Law Society practicing certificate (or evidenced entitlement to hold such a practicing certificate).
  2. Demonstrated sound knowledge of the NSW Industrial Relations system.
  3. Proven experience in Human Resources and Industrial negotiations and in providing sound advice on related matters.
  4. Demonstrated experience in providing legal advice and representation, including in presenting matters before Industrial and other Tribunals.
  5. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
