This is your chance to champion innovative, evidence-based programs that support priority populations, tackle tobacco and vaping-related issues, and strengthen vital connections between clinical care and preventative health services. You'll take the reins on everything from strategic planning to program sustainability—driving forward the Health & Wellbeing stream in alignment with the goals of South Western Sydney Local Health District and the Ministry of Health.

What You'll be Doing
The purpose of this position is to improve the health of people living in south western Sydney by contributing to Health Promotion programs of work in line with South Western Sydney Local Health District and the Ministry of Health’s goals, principles, and strategies.
The Senior Health Promotion Officer (SHPO) will achieve this by providing leadership and contributing to evidence based and/or innovative programs of work for population health priorities within the Health & Wellbeing stream.
The SHPO will primarily be responsible for:
- all stages of planning, implementation, evaluation, reporting and ongoing management and sustainability of preventative health programs for priority populations.
- strengthening clinical and primary care multi-risk factor assessment and referral to preventative health programs.
- leading the development of tobacco and vaping-related programs.
- coordination of the Preventative Program portfolio and workforce.

The area is growing exponentially with many major shopping centers, great entertainment venues and the development of Sydney’s new airport all located within minutes of new housing estates.

- Tertiary Qualifications in health or related field and experience in providing leadership in population focused health promotion.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience project management and program design in the field of healthy eating, active living, tobacco and e-cigarette control.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate with internal and external program partners to achieve successful program implementation and sustainability.
- Demonstrated ability to manage, motivate and coordinate professional staff and to work within an action oriented multidisciplinary team with a population health focus.
- Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
