About the Opportunity
SWSLHD Radiation Oncology Services operates over two sites (Liverpool and Campbelltown Hospitals) and is recruiting for a temporary Radiation Therapist (Level 4, Grade 1) to enhance the current clinical Team.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of a radiation planning or treatment unit within Liverpool or Macarthur CTCs (LMCTC), providing leadership, supervision and ongoing development to Radiation Therapists in that unit, and deputise for the Section Head and assist Radiation Therapy Managers as required. The Section Manager will be required to lead the development and implementation of new technology and techniques within the department to ensure that high quality and evidence based care is provided to patients.

SWSLHD Cancer Services are located in a growth area of Sydney and services are currently expanding. Our current service consists of 3 Elekta Linacs, Orthovoltage and a Phillips CT at Campbelltown and 3 Elekta Linacs, a Tomotherapy unit, Brachytherapy, Orthovoltage, a Phillips CT and a dedicated 3T Siemens MRI at Liverpool to offer patients in the district a comprehensive Radiotherapy Service.

The successful applicant will be rostered across both sites to maximise their development and meet service needs. They will need to have the skills to manage both planning and treatment work areas and will be encouraged to participate in research and development projects.

An eligibility list will be created from this recruitment for future temporary opportunities.

Where You'll Be Working 
Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation.

The Hospital provides a health service of international standing, with 23 operating theatres, capacity for 877 beds, diagnostic and imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity, paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and medical and surgical services from birth to aged care.

Liverpool Hospital is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. The $790 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) project will provide enhanced facilities and an increased capacity to meet future significant population growth for South Western Sydney.

Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the UNSW Sydney and the Western Sydney University and also welcome students from over 20 universities and colleges.

Located in the heart of Liverpool City, the hospital is close to public transport, shopping centres and eateries.

  1. Successful completion of a degree in Medical Radiation Technology or equivalent qualification recognised by the Australian Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (ASMIRT).  Minimum Level of Level 2 Year 4 Radiation Therapist and a Current Authority to Practice as a Radiation Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  2. Proven technical expertise in treatment planning and delivery, with experience and proven ability to implement new services or treatment techniques.
  3. Well-developed leadership and staff management skills to produce an efficient model of service delivery with a demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices of research participation.
  4. Demonstrated ability to create and maintain a harmonious workplace, as well as demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills, both spoken and written including the ability to communicate complex issues clearly and effectively to all levels of staff within the multidisciplinary team.
  5. Demonstrated capacity to supervise, educate, train and objectively assess radiation therapists and student RTs in current and new practices and technologies and provide advice to remedy deficiencies in knowledge and skills.
  6. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
