What you’ll be doing

We are seeking an individual with strong research and evaluation skills to join our Cancer Screening and Prevention Division’s Research and Evaluation Team. The primary purpose of this role is to manage the development, implementation and reporting of research and evaluation projects to measure and monitor the performance of programs within the Institute’s Cancer Screening and Prevention Division.

This role provides an excellent opportunity to work strategically with stakeholders and internal and external research and evaluation partners to contribute to high quality cancer screening and prevention programs for the people of NSW.

In this role you will project manage a number of research and evaluation projects across a range of prevention programs (i.e. tobacco control, skin cancer prevention, healthy lifestyles) and cancer screening programs (i.e. breast, bowel and cervical screening). You will have demonstrated experience in evaluation of complex health initiatives, sound quantitative and qualitative research skills and experience and/or interest in evaluating social marketing campaigns. 

Essential to the role will be your strong written and verbal communication and organisational skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to ensure project outcomes are achieved.

In addition to base salary:

  • 11.5% superannuation

Essential requirements

  • Knowledge of relevant trends, issues, policies and practices across health portfolios
  • Experience in research and evaluation, preferably in a health context
  • Understanding of the NSW Health System and the Health Records and Information Privacy Act
  • Tertiary qualification in an appropriate discipline.

If successful for interview candidates must bring original copies of essential qualifications to be sighted by the panel, and one copy to provide to panel.


Pre-screening questions

  1. Describe an instance where you led the design of research and/or evaluation to answer a social or public health research issue. What factors did you take into account and how did they influence the development of the successful design? What was the outcome of the research and/or evaluation project?
  1. Describe an instance when you analysed quantitative or qualitative data. How did the analysis plan specifically address the research objectives?
