The Principal Management Accountant is responsible for the development of the devolved state-wide budget and providing support and advice on state-wide reports, processes and policies to streamline reporting and planning to ensure compliance across NSW Health with accounting requirements and standards and consistency with Treasury’s reporting systems.
Crown Clerk 11/12, starting salary from $145,378 - $168,130 plus Super and annual leave loading, with a 35-hour work week. This role is temporary, providing maternity cover till November 2025.

What you'll be doing
- Provide expert technical information and support to the Ministry and its controlled entities on budget accounting systems and financial process matters to ensure that the Ministry’s reporting and accountability obligations are met
- Assist with the planning, managing and control of the annual budget process; contribute to strategic decision making and provide sound analysis and evidence to support processes and decisions
- Plan, manage, direct and control the process for the forward estimates
- Assist with the preparation and analysis of ad-hoc and routine financial performance reports
- Provide expert advice on award escalations and financial impacts of industrial rulings
- Oversee liquidity reporting and budget system transactional processing
- Identify, develop, and implement improvements to reporting system delivery in collaboration with the Principal Advisor Data Management Systems and continuously improve systems and reporting services by the Division to exceed expectations of internal and external stakeholders
- Provide quality management accounting information and contribute expert opinion to enable informed decisions to be made by the Ministry Executives and the Minister
